December 4th is so near and until it starting snowing today, I was wondering how to get into the Christmas spirit this early. And now that it feels more like Christmas, it's time to be sure that we get the families that we minister to all year long to the Christmas store. This is a great time to meet some of the parents and get to know them. It's up to those of us that see them at the apartments to help them feel welcome when they arrive at the school. Last year was my first year at the Christmas Store and I was a little surprised how the check-in process worked. I really wouldn't want to stand in that line. Anything we can do to make them feel completely welcomed when they arrive would be great. If we can help the Moms and Dads be comfortable and show the joy of being with them while they are there waiting, that can go such a long way toward building a friendship with them. Please, let's reach out and make this the friendliest team that has ever been there.

B.L.A.S.T. Schedule for 2011 --
ReplyDeleteThe theme for Church On The Block in 2011 is "From Betterment to Empowerment." Our B.L.A.S.T. meetings will focus on how our ministry can move beyond 'giving a fish' to 'teaching to fish.' We will be brainstorming and setting goals for new ways we can involve the communities in their own betterment and help them realize their God-given gifts and dignity. The meeting schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, January 18th 6:30p, The Attic (Upper Room area)
Monday, April 18th, 6:30p, Community Hall
Wednesday, July 20th, 6:30p Community Hall
Thursday, October 20th, 6:30p, Upper Room
Please make sure that all your team members are aware of the schedule. See you there!
