This is now the only place to find out information on what and when Colorado Community Church is Collecting for our Resource Center.  Before each collection Sunday we will be updating our  main page with the our requested collection items.

Proclaiming the Good News

Today's sermon message by Pastor Doug was so relevant to what we can do every time that we are at the apartments.  It really hit me when he distinguished giving an invitation from proclaiming the truth of the gospel.  It hit me that we don't have to look at it as something that someone can either accept or reject (like an invitation), but rather like a message that we have been given to proclaim.  The message is true.  The message is good news!

Resource Center Volunteer Needs

There are a few pressing needs and we want to get the word out to everyone.  Please pass this along to others who may be interested in volunteering and joining the Church on the Block team --

Truck Driver - We are looking for a volunteer to drive the truck to the Food Bank of the Rockies for our twice a month pick-up.  For 2011 we are making this run on the Wednesday following the weekend collection at the church and then again two weeks later.  We currently do this at 9:00 a.m., but the time could be moved if necessary.

Shelf Stocking - We need help stocking the food on the shelves Wednesdays after the pick-up is delivered to the resource center.  This is currently scheduled at 10:00 a.m. but may change depending on the time of the delivery.  The time commitment is 1-2 hours twice a month.

Bagging - The bagging crew also needs help.  They meet on Thursdays around 3:30 to 4:00 to fill the bags to hand out.  The time commitment is 1-2 hours twice a month.

Your contact for these position is Larry Hayse. His contact information is lmhayse@msn.com.   He can answer your questions or help you get plugged in.  Thank you for helping to fill these needs!

2011 B.L.A.S.T. Schedule

The quarterly B.L.A.S.T. meetings will be more important than ever in 2011!  Our recent training sessions have focused on Robert Lupton's teachings on moving ministries from acts of individual charity to community empowerment.  Empowerment comes when people's gifts, talents, self-worth and dignity are recognized, encouraged and supported.  So how well are we doing in this area?  What should we be doing better?  What should we not be doing?  Our B.L.A.S.T. meetings will be focused on rethinking all that we do and creating ways to develop local leadership and empower the individuals we serve.  The meeting dates are as follows:

·         Tuesday, January 18th, 6:30p The Attic (In the Upper Room area)
·         Monday, April 18th, 6:30p Community Hall
·         Wednesday, July 20th 6:30p Community Hall
·         Thursday, October 20th 6:30p Upper Room

Please note that we scheduled the meetings on different days of the week to try to accommodate different schedules.  And remember that as a volunteer in this ministry, you are required to attend at least two of these meetings.
